ISTANBUL / TURKEY

Istanbul, is one of the most beatiful city at the top of the list.

I had mentioned about how to get to Istanbul at my previous articles. I'll explain about places that you should see, where to stay on several parts. This article is first part of Istanbul adventure.

Part 1:

Istanbul placed at the north-west of Turkey. Population of Istanbul is apporoximetely 17 million. Istanbul is joint point of European and Asian continents. Istanbul is surrounded with Marmara and Black sea's.

The world had became to new age by conquesting Istanbul at 1453. Istanbul is one of the most important places at the world historical.

I'll mention about the most important tourism region of Istanbul's is Sarayburnu; as known as "Golden Horn".

Sultan Ahmet Square: You can access this square by Bagcilar-Kabatas tramway line. You should get off from tramway at Sultanahmet(Blue mosque) station. You can get help and maps from tourist information points at square. Around the square most important places; Dikilitas, Sultan Ahmet Mosque ( Blue Mosque ), Hagia Sophia, The Basilica Cistern, Gulhane Park, Topkapi Palace and Suleymaniye Mosque.

Grand Bazaar: You should get on Sultanahmet or Gulhane tramway stations and get off at the Beyazit/ Grandbazaar station. When you go out from exits of tramway station, go north-west and you'll access to 5th entrance of historical Grand Bazaar. There are lots of jewelery shops, diamond, leather, silk or cashmere carpets and specified Turkey's gift and food sellers. Dont't forget to make negotiations at shopping.

Galata Tower: Placed at Beyoglu region. You can access to Galata by red Taksim-Tunel tramway line from Taksim square. You can arrive to tower from Taksim Square to Tower by walking on Istiklal Street. By elevator you can go up to tower and inside you can eat and drink. When you go out from Tower you can walk through the Galata Bridge to go to Eminonu Square.

Eminönü Square: Get of at the Eminonu station of Bagcilar-Kabatas tramway line. When you go straight of square, you'll see a lot of cheap shops. You can find everything that you need at Eminonu region.

Dolmabahçe Palace: Located in the Besiktas district at bosphorus seaside. You can start to walk from Taksim and passing through Gumussuyu area, and then you'll see Dolmabahçe Palace at the seaside. It is placed downtown of Vodafone Arena Soccer Stadium and it has huge doors. This palace is the one of the original palace. 

Çırağan Palace: It is located in the Çırağan Street. You can access to palace by walk from Dolmabahçe Palace to Ortakoy. It's a historical palace.

Yıldız Palace: It's also same street with Çırağan Palace. When you enter arched door first you'll see garden of palace. By walking through Palace you'll access up parts Yıldız Park and small lake.

To visit these points 2 days will be enough for you overall. Stay places that nearby these points Laleli, Sirkeci, Aksaray and Taksim Square. There are lots of big or small hotels in these regions. Also Bağcılar-Kabataş tramway line passes through these regions. Coin price is 4TRL, Istanbul Card deposit pray is 5TRL. You can top up cash money to Istanbul Card for get on lines or buses. 

You can prefer cafe and restaurants for eat&drink which are in Beyazıt Square, Sultan Ahmet Square, Taksim Square, Sirkeci and Eminönü Square. Kabap, lahmajun, bean meal& rice, iskender, ezogelin soup, and mercimek soup you can taste. Kadayıf, baklava and irmik helva are bets choices for desert. Don't forget to taste Turkish coffee. If you go Ortakoy Square you can taste baked potato (kumpir).
